There is a very interesting article on legal process outsourcing available in the New York Law Journal's January 23, 2008 issue, by Anthony Lin, titled "Legal Outsourcing to India Is Growing, but Still Confronts Fundamental Issues."  The article reports on the American Conference Institute's LPO Summit, held in New York on January 16-17, 2008. Ms. Negroni moderated a panel on the various LPO models, and was joined by LPO Network editorial board member Edward Burke of Bodhi Global and others, including Indranil Choudury of Lexplosion. ACI is considering putting on the LPO Summit in other cities as well in 2008...

The December 2007 year-end issue of LPO Network asks whether Israel might be an alternative to India for offshore LPO work? An article on poaching employees by and among outsourcing companies highlights Indian law on non-compete provisions in employment contracts. Mike Geske's article on ethical considerations applicable to outsourced legal work (on behalf of Aphelion Legal Solutions) includes useful tips for establishing attorney responsibility standards that will satisfy bar associations' concerns about outsourcing, and the monthly LPO Profile feature includes an interview with Ananth Nayak, CEO of Mumbai-based Exactus Corporation. Mr. Nayak tackles head-on the concerns that have kept some companies from taking the plunge into LPO, despite the much-heralded cost savings. Read it here.

This is our last call for the American Conference Institute's LPO Summit, to be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City on January 16-17, 2008. Information about registration is available in the December issue of LPO Network and at the ACI's website: http://americanconference.com/Law_Firm_Management/LPO.htm

We announced several LPO conferences in the November 2007 issue of LPO Network. The ACI LPO Summit kicks off in January 2008 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City. The November issue also profiles the newly-launched Infosys BPO Legal Services, an LPO affiliated with the renowned Indian technology company. Our editorial board member Karlyn Stanley is head of the Infosys LPO, and she is based in Reston, Virginia USA. Infosys BPO is hiring and the issue includes a link for use of those wishing to submit resumes. Read the November issue here.

The October issue is full of important articles, ranging from a discussion of how to avoid errors in document review projects to the impending mergers and acquisitions in the LPO industry. We profile LawScribe, Inc., the Los Angeles California and Gurgaon, India-based LPO that has been rated one of the top LPOs worldwide by an outsourcers group.

The September issue of LPO Network is full of insider views on the LPO world, asking some hard questions about whether the LPO industry is really growing as fast as its proponents say. Roger Cohen's eye-opening article on integrated outsourcing provides real-world examples of how to build an outsource relationship with lasting value to a company, and David Galbenski of Lumen Legal authored an article on "bestshoring," which includes interesting comparisons between outsourcing abroad and domestically. Read it here.

The August issue of LPO Network features an article on due diligence for outsourcing litigation support, and an article on the geographic factors (other than security) that affect the intelligent selection of an LPO. Our LPO Profile features an interview with the CEO of IMC Global Services. We also introduced our new logo, a colorful original image of Ganesha, by 15-year old Mihir Modak of Pune, India. It will appear on future issues, thanks to Mihir's talent. See our August issue here.

The July issue of LPO Network features an article about outsourcing patent research, and an article describing the management system of nondisclosure agreements developed by Delhi-based Klexserve LPO. A short report on the ALM Conference "LegalTech West" which took place in Los Angeles, is provided by Karlyn Stanley of our Editorial Board. We also profile the Mumbai New York and Pune, India-based LPO Bodhi Global Services. Read the issue by clicking here.

The June 2007 issue of LPO Network features an article on whether there should be accreditation standards for LPOs, and on training in Pune, India-based True Legal Partners. There is also an LPO Profile of Miami, Florida-based iDiligence. Don't miss it! Click here for the June issue.

The first issue of LPO Network was released on May 1, 2007 with articles by Andrea Lee Negroni, Hiren Patel (co-founder of Aphelion Legal Solutions), and Kunoor Chopra (CEO of LawScribe). Karlyn Stanley's article outlines important security procedures for BPOs and LPOs in India, which she compiled from her hands-on experience in February 2007 with visits to LPO facilities in Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi. The May issue is available here in a PDF file.
